A season partnership with Eartheners and Unibrow Studio

07-10-2026

On the afternoon of 7 October 2026, at the Manipur Press Club in Imphal, Chingkhei Hunba Polo Club signed a Memorandum of Understanding with two home-grown Imphal businesses, Eartheners and Unibrow Studio, for the 2026–27 polo season. The season runs from October 2026 to April 2027.

The MoU was signed for the club by its President, Thoudam Thoinu Devi, and its Secretary, Thongam Jotin Singh; for Eartheners by Soraisam Devakishor Singh, Founder and Managing Director; and for Unibrow Studio by Tedawnshim Khaling, Founder and Director. Mutum Bidyananda Singh, the club’s Treasurer, and Moirangthem Rameshwar Singh, a Director of Eartheners, signed as witnesses.

On the same afternoon the team received its new jerseys for the season, each player was given a new polo mallet, and the President launched this website.

The partners

Eartheners is a rooftop solar vendor in Manipur, a social enterprise from Imphal that installs rooftop solar for homes under PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, and solar systems for health centres, NGOs and other institutions across Northeast India.

Unibrow Studio is a content creation studio in Manipur, working in social media, photography and video.

What the partnership covers

Eartheners will support the club’s six-player team through the season:

  • support to the club ahead of each of the season’s main tournaments;
  • a monthly practice honorarium, paid directly into each player’s own bank account;
  • the team’s registration and affiliation fees with the polo associations;
  • two sets of jerseys for each player.

Unibrow Studio will look after this website and the club’s Instagram and Facebook pages, and photograph and film selected matches, so the club’s players, ponies and match days reach more people. The website and the pages belong to the club.

The team for the season is Thoudam Kaoba Singh, Okram Rozer Singh, Leishemba Takhellambam, Laiphrakpam Kokeshwor Singh, Thoudam Manisana Singh and Mutum Bhupendrajit Meitei. You can meet them here.

Keepers of the Manipuri pony

The club keeps about a hundred Manipuri ponies. With only about a thousand Manipuri ponies left, that is roughly one in every ten. Its players and members feed them, train them and care for them, season after season, and most of them earn almost nothing from the game.

Local polo clubs in Manipur have long had jersey sponsors, patrons and well-wishers, and the club is grateful to everyone who has stood by it. As far as the club knows, this is the first time a local club has had season partners, with support going directly to its players.

In their words

“We thank Eartheners and Unibrow Studio for the effort they have put into supporting our players for the 2026–27 season. Our players give their time to polo and to their ponies out of love for the game, and this support will help them practise more regularly and make a real difference to them through the season. We believe this will grow into a relationship that benefits all of us in the years ahead, and we hope more businesses will stand with polo clubs in Manipur,” said Thoudam Thoinu Devi, President of the club.

“Everyone talks about saving the Manipuri pony. This club has been doing it, quietly, for years. As a small, home-grown rooftop solar company in Manipur, we wanted to do a little something for these players. We request other small businesses to come forward too, and join in saving the Manipuri pony,” said Soraisam Devakishor Singh of Eartheners.

“Manipur is the birthplace of polo, yet we rarely see ourselves at the centre of it. This season, we want to help the club tell its own story, in its own voice: its players, its ponies and its match days,” said Tedawnshim Khaling of Unibrow Studio.

On the day

The programme was compèred by Milky Soibam. Paonam Thoibi gave the welcome address, the club’s Advisor, Kh. Sunita Devi, and its President spoke for the club, and Moirangthem Rameshwar Singh gave the vote of thanks. The club thanks the members of the media who came, and everyone who came to the Press Club.

The club welcomes other businesses and organisations that would like to support its players and the Manipuri pony, in whatever form they can. See Partners, and follow the club on Instagram and Facebook at @chingkheihunba.club.
